Görkem (E-RYT 200 &YACEP) studied his BA and MSc in Physical Therapy at Dokuz Eylul University. He researched and studied “Musculoskeletal Injuries of Professional Dancers” on MSc thesis in 2006 and since then he has been consulting proffessional dancers. Dizdar received his PhD with the theses on “Balance of Whirling Dervishes of Mevlana” and has been practicing physiotherapy since 2001.
CERTIFICATES & TRAININGS
In 2009 he has completed Mulligan Mobilization Courses and Kinesiotaping (KT1-KT2). Following year he has received his Mastery Certificate in Manuel Therapy (MCMT) with Hands-On Seminars in New York.
Same year he certified by General Directorate of Youth and Sports in Turkey with Pilates.
He has completed his first 8 week basic course on NDT/Bobath with European Bobath Tutors Association (EBTA) and spinal modules of McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in 2011.
In 2011 he started working children with Sensory Integration Disorders. Completed Prechtal Analysis (General Movement Trust) in 2013.
In 2014 he became an accredited NDTA certified physiotherapist by receiving second basic course in Management and Treatment of Children with Cerebral Palsy and other Neuromotor Disorders.
In 2015 he completed NDTA/Bobath Approved Advance Course in the Treatment of Babies in Thessaloniki, Greece. Same year became a faculty of Hands-On Seminars and has been teaching MCMT trainings in Turkey.
Dizdar has been a member of International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) since 2002, Sports Physiotherapy Association of Turkey and Pediatric Physiotherapy Association of Turkey since 2008. He became a member of Neuro – Developmental Treatment Association (NDTA) in 2014. He also has served as a board member of Turkish Physiotherapy Association between 2013-2015.
Apart from the ones mentioned above he has done various courses through his career such as; Dry needling, Developmental Orthopedics and Orthotics, Reflexology, Body Awareness, Thera-Togs, Movement Analysis, DNS, Vestibular Rehabilitation, McKenzie, TMJ Disorders, Chronic Pain Management, Matrix Rhythm Therapy, Serial Casting, Postural Control and Motor Learning.
In clinical practice, his treatment philosophy includes using manual therapy to restore joint mechanics followed by muscle retraining and motor control strategies to correct movement dysfunction. He believes in cleaning restrictions of body and mind in order to maintain the natural flow of the movement in human body.
His approach originates from the unique, effortless development principles of the movement in infants regardless of gender, race or religion; underlying the idea of Unity of Nature and Human. Those universal principles of human motor development forms the core of his teachings. He provides individualized, one-on-one treatment and develops exercise programs geared toward the level and goals of the patients as well as courses for movement specialists.
Gorkem is lead trainer on NeuroDevelopmental Yoga training.
His interpretation of the traditional yoga from an scientific stand point brings so much interest to his courses and trainings.
He currently works at Smyrna Dance & Movement Studio in Izmir and has been teaching as a guest lecturer in several universities in Turkey.
